While many admired the gesture and called it “precious,” others argued that he was raising a “hopeless damsel in distress” with no “problem-solving skills.”

About three years ago, a Reddit user shared a snapshot to the subreddit MadeMeSmile that captured a doting father cradling his daughter’s head with his hand – for 45 minutes straight – so she could sleep comfortably during a flight. Instead of having her use a pillow or the seat for support, the dad – sitting directly behind her – leaned forward and held out his hand so his little girl could rest her head and drift off to sleep.
