She set the record straight 😬

She set the record straight 😬

A gray-haired woman attending the Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies game on September 5 has become the center of a viral controversy after being mistaken for a fan caught on live TV in a heated dispute over a home run ball.

When Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader smashed a ball into the stands, several fans scrambled to grab it. A father, Drew Feltwell, managed to secure it for his 10-year-old son, who was celebrating his birthday. However, footage from NBC showed a gray-haired woman confronting the family, insisting the ball was hers. At one point, she claimed, *“You took it from me. It was in my hand.”* The dad eventually handed over the ball to de-escalate the tense situation.

The incident quickly went viral, sparking outrage across social media and even drawing criticism from ESPN anchors for what they called poor sportsmanship. But in the hours that followed, another woman, Cheryl Richardson-Wagner, found herself mistakenly identified as the person in the clip. Taking to Facebook, she set the record straight with a sharp response: *“OK everyone. I’m NOT the crazy Philly Mom (but I sure would love to be as thin as she is and move as fast)… and I’m a Red Sox fan!”*

Her post drew a wave of support from friends and strangers alike, who condemned the false accusations. Meanwhile, the real woman’s identity remains unconfirmed.

Fortunately, the story ended on a more positive note for Feltwell’s family. Both the Marlins organization and Harrison Bader himself stepped in, gifting the young fan signed baseballs and even a bat to make up for the ordeal. Photos shared online showed Bader smiling with the boy and his sister, turning a sour moment into a memorable one.

This case highlights how quickly viral moments can spin out of control, sometimes even dragging innocent bystanders into the spotlight.
