Things got a little steamy during filming 😳

Nicole Kidman has opened up about the emotional and physical challenges she faced while filming her new A24 thriller, *Babygirl*. The 57-year-old actress stars opposite Harris Dickinson in the erotic drama, which explores power, desire, and the consequences of forbidden relationships.

Speaking on *The Graham Norton Show*, Kidman admitted that the role pushed her far outside her comfort zone. “I love the script, and I’m always looking to push beyond my comfort zone,” she said. “This role was something I had never explored before, and I’m always on a quest as an actor to discover new areas of myself.”

In the film, Kidman plays a successful businesswoman whose affair with her much younger intern, played by Dickinson, jeopardizes her career and family. Antonio Banderas co-stars as her husband. Written and directed by Halina Reijn, *Babygirl* was inspired by a real-life story of a woman who had never experienced an orgasm during 25 years of marriage.

Kidman confessed that the steamy scenes often left her drained. “There were times when we were shooting where I was like, ‘I don’t want to orgasm any more,’” she admitted. “It was like, ‘Don’t touch me.’ At times, I’d think, ‘I don’t care if I’m never touched again in my life!’ I was just over it.” She described moments of trust and vulnerability with her co-stars but also acknowledged times when she had to pause filming to recover emotionally.

Despite the intensity, Kidman’s performance has been widely praised. At the Venice Film Festival in 2024, *Babygirl* received a seven-minute standing ovation, and Kidman won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress. Tragically, she learned of her mother’s passing the same day and was unable to accept the award in person.

The film went on to gross over \$60 million on a \$20 million budget and was named one of the top ten films of 2024 by the National Board of Review. With its bold portrayal of intimacy, vulnerability, and women’s relationships with their bodies, *Babygirl* has sparked debate while cementing Kidman’s reputation as one of the most fearless actresses of her generation.
