Michelle Obama Turns Heads Over ‘Weekend Outfit’, Some Call It ‘Inappropriate’
*Note: We are republishing this story, which originally made headlines in January 2018.*
Former First Lady **Michelle Obama** and her eldest daughter, **Malia**, turned heads during a weekend getaway in Miami Beach. The pair were seen Saturday strolling off the sand, accompanied by friends, including former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, along with Secret Service detail.
At 53, Michelle radiated effortless style in a **white bikini top**, paired with high-waisted cut-off denim shorts. She completed her look with a flowing white blouse, a patterned bandanna, and oversized hoop earrings. Barefoot and holding her shoes, she looked relaxed and at ease as she walked along the beach.
Malia kept things casual in a **tan hoodie** layered over her bikini, her black bottoms peeking through. She carried her sneakers, an iPhone, charger, and a book in her hands, capturing the essence of a laid-back college student enjoying her break.
Later that evening, the mother-daughter duo traded beachwear for dinner attire as they headed to Miami’s **Prime 112 steakhouse**, a hotspot for celebrities. Malia stepped out in a stylish black-and-white patterned romper, smiling brightly as she left the restaurant. Michelle opted for a chic, comfortable look with flowing high-waisted trousers, a green tank, and a long blue cardigan, accessorized with layered chains and a crossbody bag.
The outing seemed to be a **girls-only trip**, as Sasha Obama was noticeably absent and former President Barack Obama did not join. Sasha, however, had her own Miami Beach trip the previous year with friends, which was well documented.
Malia, then on winter break from **Harvard University**, had recently spent the holidays in Hawaii with her family. According to Harvard’s academic calendar, she was due back at school on January 22 for the spring term. Barack Obama also shared around that time, during an appearance on David Letterman’s Netflix show *My Next Guest Needs No Introduction*, that dropping Malia off at Harvard had been an emotional experience for him.
The Miami trip offered a glimpse of normalcy for the Obamas, who continue to capture public attention with their post-White House lives.
