Elvis Presley’s iconic 1962 Lockheed 1329 JetStar, a symbol of the King of Rock and Roll’s larger-than-life persona, is set to be auctioned in January, giving fans a rare chance to own a piece of musical history. Purchased by Presley in 1976 for \$840,000, the jet was a central part of his hectic touring life, transporting him, his band, backup singers, manager Col. Tom Parker, and his entourage, the Memphis Mafia, across the country.

The aircraft’s interior reflects Elvis’s signature style. Red velvet swivel chairs, a matching couch, 1970s wood paneling, and a built-in entertainment cabinet with TV, VCR, and cassette player showcase its retro charm. Additional features include a microwave, drink dispenser, and a preserved toilet and vanity, highlighting the luxury that accompanied Presley on the road.

After Elvis’s death in 1977, the JetStar changed hands multiple times, eventually landing in an aircraft graveyard in Roswell, New Mexico. It last sold at auction in 2017 for approximately \$430,000. Now, Mecum Auctions is offering it again, noting that while the jet requires extensive restoration—lacking an engine and missing cockpit components—it presents an “incredible restoration opportunity” for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Beyond the plane itself, the new owner will receive copies of Aircraft Security Agreement documents signed by Presley, adding an extra layer of authenticity. This JetStar is part of a fleet that included a custom Convair 880, “Lisa Marie,” named for his daughter, and an additional JetStar, affectionately known as “Hound Dog 1” and “Hound Dog 2.”
