Jennifer Lopez is speaking out đŽ
Jennifer Lopez has spoken candidly about her divorce from actor Ben Affleck, calling it one of the âtoughestâ periods of her life but also a transformative experience. The superstar opened up during an interview on *CBS Sunday Morning*, reflecting on the emotional journey that followed the end of their marriage.
In August 2024, Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck after months of speculation that their relationship was faltering. The coupleâs love story had long captured the publicâs imagination, beginning in the early 2000s when they were famously dubbed âBennifer.â Though they called off their first engagement in 2004, the pair rekindled their romance in 2021, eventually marrying in Las Vegas in July 2022. For many fans, it seemed like a fairytale reunion destined to last.
However, behind the scenes, cracks began to show. By 2023, Lopez and Affleck were reportedly living separate lives, and their divorce was finalized in January 2025. While both remained largely private about the reasons behind their split, Lopez revealed in the interview that the experience ultimately helped her grow.
âI have to say it was the best thing that ever happened to me because it changed me,â she shared. âIt helped me grow in a way that I needed to growâbecome more self-aware. Iâm a different person now than I was a year-and-a-half ago.â
Despite their separation, Lopez expressed gratitude toward Affleck for his professional support. When asked about his role as a producer on her upcoming film *Kiss of the Spider Woman*, she said, âThe movie wouldnât have been made if it wasnât for him and Artist Equityâand I will always give him that credit.â
The film, an adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway musical, is set to release on October 10, 2025. For Lopez, both the movie and her personal evolution mark a new chapterâone defined by resilience, reflection, and growth.
