He is reportedly ‘in a very bad way.’
The death of Urfan Sharif, convicted killer of his 10-year-old daughter Sarah, has drawn widespread attention and strong reactions. Many view his demise as a form of poetic or universal justice. Sharif was found guilty of committing some of the most horrific acts of child abuse, culminating in the murder of his young daughter in August 2023. His stepmother, also involved in Sarah’s death, received a life sentence, while his uncle, Faisal Malik, was jailed for 16 years for allowing the abuse to occur.
Following the tragedy, Sharif and his stepmother fled to Pakistan but were eventually brought to justice. On December 17, 2024, he was sentenced to life imprisonment and began serving time in a high-security London prison known for housing dangerous criminals.
However, just a week into his sentence, Sharif was attacked by fellow inmates using a jagged lid from a tuna can. Reports indicate he sustained cuts to his face and neck and was treated within the prison. Authorities confirmed that his injuries were non-life-threatening. A hospital spokesperson stated, “Police are investigating an assault on a prisoner at HMP Belmarsh. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.” The Metropolitan Police also confirmed the investigation, focusing on allegations of prisoner assault.
Sarah Sharif’s life had been marked by unimaginable suffering. She endured abuse in her own home, including being bitten, burned, and beaten, causing severe physical and emotional trauma. The brutality she faced shocked the nation and highlighted the devastating consequences of domestic violence and neglect.
The attack on Urfan Sharif in prison underscores the public outrage surrounding his crimes. While the assault itself is being investigated as part of prison safety procedures, many view the incident as a reflection of society’s visceral reaction to those who harm children.
The entire case—from Sarah’s tragic death to the sentences of those involved—serves as a grim reminder of the consequences of child abuse and the importance of vigilant protection for vulnerable children. Despite the horrific events, authorities continue to ensure due process within the justice system while managing the tensions inherent in housing convicted violent offenders.
