Things got a little steamy during filming š³
Nicole Kidman has recently opened up about the emotional and physical challenges she faced while filming intimate scenes for her new A24 thriller, *Babygirl*. The 58-year-old actress, starring alongside Harris Dickinson, revealed that at one point during production, she had to pause filming because she ādidnāt want to orgasm anymore.ā
In *Babygirl*, Kidman plays a successful businesswoman whose life unravels when she begins a passionate affair with her much younger intern, portrayed by Dickinson. Directed and written by Halina Reijn, the film was inspired by a true story about a woman who had never experienced an orgasm in her 25-year marriage. Reijn said she wanted to explore the complex relationship women have with their own bodies and desiresāa theme that resonated deeply with Kidman.
Speaking on *The Graham Norton Show*, Kidman admitted the project pushed her far beyond her comfort zone but also offered her a rare chance to explore a new side of her artistry. āI love the script, and Iām always looking to push beyond my comfort zone,ā she said. āThis role was something I had never explored before.ā
However, filming the erotic scenes was not easy. Kidman explained that while there was mutual trust between her and her co-stars, including Dickinson and Antonio Banderas (who plays her husband), the intensity occasionally became overwhelming. āThere were times when we were shooting where I was like, āI donāt want to orgasm anymore,āā she admitted. āAt times, Iād think, āI donāt care if Iām never touched again in my life!ā I was just over it.ā
Despite the difficulty, Kidmanās performance has been hailed as one of her most daring yet. She received a seven-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival and won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress. The movie went on to gross over $60 million worldwide on a $20 million budget and was listed among the National Board of Reviewās top ten films of 2024.
*Babygirl* continues to spark discussion about intimacy, vulnerability, and female empowermentāshowcasing Kidman at her boldest and most authentic.
