Most married couples are used to being asked *when* they’ll have children—but for Charli Worgan and her husband Cullen, the question was often *why*. The Sydney-based couple both have different forms of dwarfism, which has drawn public curiosity and, at times, criticism. When Charli became pregnant with their first child, the attention intensified.

After giving birth to their first daughter, Charli decided to share her family’s story on social media to educate others about their life. Her authenticity and positivity quickly resonated, and today her Instagram has over 300,000 followers. The couple are now parents to three beautiful children, but their journey to parenthood hasn’t been easy.

Each of Charli’s pregnancies involved painful and emotional genetic testing. Because of their conditions, their children could inherit Charli’s form of dwarfism (Achondroplasia), Cullen’s form (Geleophysic Dysplasia), be of average height—or inherit both types, which doctors say would be fatal.

Charli shared that while most expectant mothers celebrate their 12-week milestone, she was undergoing Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS), a procedure involving a large needle inserted through the abdomen to test the baby’s genetics—a process that carries a 2% risk of miscarriage. “When most at 12 weeks are celebrating, I was waiting to find out if I could bring this little one into the world,” she wrote.

Despite facing criticism for choosing to have children with these risks, Charli remains strong. She explained that her decisions are made with love and courage, reminding others that kindness is essential.

In early 2021, Charli gave birth to her son, Rip. Reflecting on motherhood, she shared: “There’s no ‘correct’ way to do motherhood, but there’s no ‘wrong’ way either.”

Through her honesty and strength, Charli has become an inspiration to parents everywhere—showing that love, resilience, and family matter far more than anyone’s differences.
