To the world, Macaulay Culkin will forever be Kevin McCallister. But to his young sons, he’s simply dad—and they have no idea the mischievous kid outsmarting burglars on screen is him.

During his *A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin* tour stop in Long Beach, celebrating *Home Alone*’s 35th anniversary, the 45-year-old actor revealed that while he regularly watches the classic film with sons Dakota, 4, and Carson, 3, they haven’t connected the dots yet.

“They really love it,” Culkin shared, describing the experience as “completely different” from watching with fans. Though the boys get excited seeing young Kevin in Disney+ montages, “They have no idea that I’m Kevin. They’re only three and four years old. I want to keep up that illusion as long as possible.”

However, Dakota is starting to catch on. During bedtime recently, when shown an old family photo featuring all seven of Culkin’s siblings, Dakota immediately observed, “That kid looks like Kevin”—then quickly moved on, preserving the mystery a bit longer.

Culkin also recounted a hilarious exchange where Dakota began attributing Kevin’s adventures to his father directly: “‘Do you remember when you kicked burglars out?’ And he’s like, ‘Yep.’ ‘You slide down the stairs?’ ‘I sure do.’ I was like, ‘You liar! That was me!'” Culkin laughed, clearly cherishing these innocent father-son moments, including when they mimicked Kevin’s iconic dance together.

Culkin shares his sons with fiancée Brenda Song, 37, and the couple fiercely protects their children’s privacy. Song told *Bustle* in January 2025 that shielding their sons from public attention is intentional. She recalled her son asking at a soccer game, “Why is that man taking pictures of you, mama?” Her response was clear: “You could take pictures of me all day. I don’t care. But when it’s your kids, it’s different. They didn’t ask for this life.”

For now, Culkin is savoring the magic—watching his iconic role through fresh eyes while his sons remain blissfully unaware that dad once saved Christmas from the Wet Bandits.
