A grandmother unknowingly captured the final photo of three-year-old Scarlett Jensen just moments before a fatal hit-and-run in Oldtown, Idaho, on October 7, 2022.

Scarlett and her two-year-old brother, Henry, were playing under their grandmother’s care when a speeding Chevy Tahoe struck them in their private driveway. Scarlett died instantly, while Henry and their grandmother were critically injured. The driver fled but was later arrested and sentenced to ten years in prison.

Henry suffered severe injuries, including a fractured spine, while his grandmother sustained multiple broken bones. Amid the tragedy, Scarlett’s mother, Samantha Jensen, found comfort in the last photo of her daughter.

“It shows her safe, happy, and loved. That’s how I’ll remember her,” Samantha said. Scarlett’s memory now lives on through that cherished image, reminding the family of life’s precious, fleeting moments.
