A family stopped at an Alabama McDonald’s on their trip from New York and ordered 14 chicken sandwiches. As soon as they sat down and started to eat them, they immediately noticed that they all tasted a bit weird. They were horrified when they realized what the weird taste really was. How do you feel about this!
When Stacey Terry handed her husband their McDonald’s breakfast order, she noticed something unusual—the bag was far heavier than it should have been. What seemed like a routine drive-thru stop quickly turned into an unforgettable experience for the Tennessee family.
Instead of biscuits and hash browns, the Terrys discovered bundles of cash inside the bag. The money, carefully packed, turned out to be the restaurant’s bank deposit, mistakenly handed to them at the window.
The family didn’t realize the mix-up until they were already miles down the road. Still, Stacey said there was never any question about what to do. “As soon as I realized it was their deposit, my first instinct was to take it back,” she told News 5. “I couldn’t live with myself if we kept it.”
When they returned, the employee responsible for the mistake was visibly shaken. Losing such a large sum could have had devastating consequences, possibly even costing her job. The Terrys’ honesty not only returned the deposit but spared the worker from serious trouble.
McDonald’s management expressed deep gratitude, praising the family’s integrity and pledging to review procedures to prevent similar errors. They noted that the Terrys’ actions reflected true community values and set an example worth celebrating.
The Terrys, however, insisted they weren’t looking for recognition or reward. They simply hoped no one would be punished for what they saw as a human mistake. Their act of honesty soon spread across social media, earning widespread praise as a refreshing reminder that doing the right thing still matters.
For the Terrys, the incident is now a story of integrity they’ll carry—and share—for years to come.
