People are urging her to change the name 😬

Inspired by Disney’s wide-eyed fawn, the name *Bambi* has found its way into modern nurseries—and onto the front lines of online debate. When influencer Molly-Mae Hague and boxer Tommy Fury revealed in January 2023 that their newborn daughter was named Bambi, the reaction was instant. While some praised the sweet and unusual choice, others dismissed it as frivolous, even mocking it as “a brilliant stripper name.”

Hague admitted the backlash hit hard. “I was brought back down to planet Earth very, very quickly—of how nasty this world can be,” she reflected on YouTube. Still, she and Fury stood by their decision. For Molly-Mae, there had only ever been one option: “When I was young, I only ever wanted to call my daughter Bambi… and Tommy loved it too.”

Interestingly, they weren’t the only ones drawn to the name. Sydney-based influencer Indy Clinton had already named her daughter *Bambi Valentine* months earlier, inspired while reading the Disney storybook to her son. “I was convinced it was unusual and that nobody would use it,” Clinton told *Daily Mail*. Like Hague, she too faced criticism—but also waves of support. “She’s my Bambilicious,” Clinton said, brushing off negativity.

Both women argue the choice reflects a broader cultural shift toward whimsical, unconventional names—joining a trend that includes River, Bear, Stormi, and Wolf. For critics, Bambi may be too playful to take seriously. But for these mothers, it’s more than a name. It’s identity, affection, and a reminder that parenting today often means navigating not just diapers and sleepless nights, but also the court of public opinion.
