A tragic multi-vehicle crash in Colorado has claimed the life of Democratic State Senator Faith Winter, leaving her family, colleagues, and the local community devastated.

Winter, 45, was killed Wednesday evening in a five-vehicle collision on Interstate 25 near East Dry Creek Road in Centennial, approximately 16 miles southeast of Denver.

According to authorities, three other people were injured in the crash, which forced officials to temporarily close a section of the highway. Images from the scene showed several heavily damaged vehicles and an overturned truck.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the collision, with officials warning that the investigation could take time.

Colorado Senate President James Coleman and Majority Leader Robert Rodriguez expressed their heartbreak over Winter’s death, describing her as a dedicated public servant who remained committed to the people of Colorado.

Winter began her political career in the Colorado House of Representatives before winning election to the state Senate. She later became assistant Senate majority leader, one of the chamber’s highest-ranking positions.

Throughout her career, she championed environmental protection, transportation improvements, women’s rights, and policies supporting working families.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis also paid tribute, remembering Winter as a passionate advocate whose work made a meaningful difference across the state.

She leaves behind two children, Tobin and Sienna, and her fiancé, former state Representative Matt Gray.

As tributes continue to pour in, colleagues and supporters are remembering Winter not only for her political accomplishments but also for her dedication to public service.

Her sudden death has left a lasting impact on Colorado’s political community.
