In 2013, Czech couple Alexandra Kinova and her husband Antonin experienced a miracle. After learning they were expecting a second child, they were overjoyed, but a first ultrasound revealed they were having twins. However, the surprise didn’t stop there—during the second ultrasound, they discovered they were expecting quintuplets. The chances of this happening are one in seven million.
On the delivery day, 40 hospital staff members were present, and the five babies—four boys (Daniel, Michael, Alex, and Martin) and one girl (Terezka)—were born healthy via C-section. Alexandra made history as the first woman in the Czech Republic to give birth to quintuplets without fertility treatments. Despite Antonin almost missing the birth due to traffic, the family’s joy knew no bounds. The babies spent a short time in the ICU before going home. This rare occurrence, recorded once in every 480 years in the Czech Republic, made headlines worldwide.
