Donald Trump criticized President Biden after he issued last-minute pardons for former Jan. 6 committee members, including Liz Cheney, Anthony Fauci, and Gen. Mark Milley. Trump called Cheney a “crying lunatic” and claimed the pardons protected people guilty of “bad crimes.”
Republicans condemned the pardons as a sign of guilt and corruption, accusing Biden of shielding political allies from accountability. Some, like Rep. Ralph Norman and Sen. Jim Banks, said the move tainted Bidenโs legacy.
Trump on Why Biden Pardoned Liz Cheney:
โLiz Cheney, she's a lunatic โฆ Why would Biden do that? He pardoned her and pardoned everybody. The reason is that they destroyed documents. And if you're even in a civil case, which this wouldn't be, people go to jail for a long time forโฆ pic.twitter.com/dsvCHlToin

Biden defended his decision, saying the pardoned individuals were unfairly targeted for doing their jobs and that the politically motivated attacks against them threatened democracy and the rule of law.
